Fri, 14 May 2010 21:41:53 GMT — Oil continues to spill into the Gulf of Mexico but if you’d like to help it doesn’t take much.
Hot Headz Salon in Leesburg is challenging hair salons across Southwest Georgia to collect as much hair as they can to help out with the oil spill in the Gulf.
Salons will take the hair clippings, package them up and mail it to certain drop off spots thanks to the national organization, Matter of Trust. The hair will be turned into oil absorbing mats.
Hot Headz stylist Haley Albritton hopes Southwest Georgians help the cause.
“They put it in a nylon sock and they’re going to put it on the water and leave it out there for a few days and bring it back in. A lot of people don’t realize how much oil hair can actually absorb, about three times its weight,” says Albritton.
