| Looking Glass Program | |
| Over 153 million people worldwide suffer from uncorrected vision problems, limiting their potential to read, learn, and work. Matter of Trust was proud to partner with Lions Club & Dr. Rosa Ten to collect used eyeglasses for those in need and to distribute them in Peru in October 2011. The Lions Clubs have gained worldwide recognition for their volunteer work in vision services. Dr. Rosa Ten has been organizing a medical team to help villagers near and around Cusco, Peru for six years. In 2011 Matter of Trust collected used eyeglasses and readers for Dr. Ten. Once again, salons, groomers and members showed how wonderful they are! When we posted about the need for glasses on our Facebook page and sent out an email to our members, within no time hundreds of used glasses began arriving in the post! Matter of Trust Founder, Lisa Gautier, traveled with the team of volunteers as well. You can see Lisa’s vlog about the trip here. Lisa arrived just ahead of the earthquake in Lima, but was able to convince suspicious Peruvians that she hadn’t brought the San Franciscan curse with her. Dr. Ten will be making another trip in October of 2012. Until then she will be collecting more eyeglasses. If you have any unused glasses, sunglasses, or reading glasses, please consider taking the time and trouble of sending them to Dr. Ten. Someone in Peru will appreciate your gift of sight.
